When it comes to assessing the food trends of 2017, it’s more about what went viral on the internet than what people actually ate: unicorn everything, fruit boats, blue majik, goth foods, and a whole host of other Instagram feed-fueling, made-to-photograph foods.
But then there’s the stuff people are actually eating. Food tracking app Lose It! sorted through their user data for the entire year to see what was truly trending. Interestingly enough, they noticed an uptick in logs of tacos and IPAs (hell yeah!). But they also noticed an increase in the consumption of kombucha (a fermented tea drink), overnight oats (here are 20 overnight oats recipes to try), and apple cider vinegar (which may or may not give you abs… and a stomach ache).
