Time to avoid that extra pinch of salt: experts – TAMIL NADU

Do you know that you need not add salt to your food? And that, if you did not consume salt, your health would not suffer in any way?

According to Graham Macgregor, chairman of World Action on Salt and Hypertension, humans, like chimpanzees and gorillas, can live healthy with blood pressure measuring 90/60.

“During evolution humans consumed less than 1/2 gram of salt a day; now it is 12 gms a day,” says Dr. Macgregor, who is in India to speak on WASH’s efforts to reduce salt consumption.
