Malawians warned against herbal medicine | Malawi 24

The Pharmacy, Medicines and Poisons Board (PMPB) has advised Malawians towards taking herbal drugs saying the merchandise are just dietary and nutritional supplements with no medicinal effect.

In a press release, the board has stated claims by some individuals and organisations that their natural merchandise remedy, deal with, heal or forestall illnesses resembling HIV/AIDS , cancer, diabetes and excessive blood are but to be confirmed scientifically.

Malawians warned on herbs use.

“We wish to advise most of the people that these claims are unfounded and have not been proven to have any medical benefits. None of those claims are supported by scientific evidence.

“The PMPB recognises these natural products as dietary and dietary dietary supplements with no medicinal impact and subsequently using these herbal products shouldn’t exchange medicines prescribed by educated and authorized health practitioners,” Says the assertion.
