Secretary Dr Pranab Deka said 10 million people across the world die every year owing to complications caused by hypertension.
“The blood pressure limit has been reduced to 135. One should be careful as soon as it crosses 120. A healthy person should examine his blood pressure at least once every year while those with fluctuating BP should do it once a month,” he said.
Deka advised maximum 1.5mg salt intake and cutting down on ghee, butter and other saturated fat.
