High School Football Player Dies After Being Struck By Log During Team Exercise

A high school football player in Farmingville, N.Y., died today after being hit in the head during a team conditioning exercise that involved players carrying a log overhead.

Joshua Mileto, 16, was a rising junior at Farmingville’s Sachem East High School. Five players were carrying the log during this morning’s offseason workout as it fell and struck Mileto, according to a local police statement obtained by Newsday. He was moved to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
