The risk of high blood pressure increases if you’re over the age of 65.

Smokers and those of African or Caribbean descent are more at risk of hypertension, the NHS said.

All adults over 40 yeas old should check their blood pressure at least every five years.

You can get your blood pressure tested at your GP surgery, or at some pharmacies.
