High blood pressure: Reduce hypertension symptoms eating chocolate

Harvard Medical School research analysed the affects of the sweet treat on 1,106 people.

It found that products that contain 50-70% cocoa lowered blood pressure in all participants.

This isn’t the only benefit of the choccy, as a BMJ study notes it can also cut your risk of cardiovascular disease.

While the results of these trials are encouraging, it’s important not to pin all your health hopes on dark chocolate.

The NHS warns: “Chocolate in moderation can be part of a healthy balanced diet, but it is high in fat and calories.

“If eaten in excess any possible beneficial effects are likely to be outweighed by the risk of obesity, which itself increases the chance of high blood pressure and heart disease.”
