The household of an adolescent who died from sort one diabetes have made it “their mission” to boost the profile of the situation.

Peter Baldwin, 13, from Cardiff, died in 2015, simply days after he was recognized.

His family are working intently with Diabetes UK Cymru “to place a stop to utterly preventable deaths”.

A national meeting committee met on Tuesday to discuss how health boards diagnose the condition.

It follows a petition arrange by the Baldwin household calling on the Welsh Government to introduce routine screening for youngsters and younger individuals.

Individuals with sort one diabetes can’t produce the hormone insulin, which controls the amount of glucose in the blood.
