Charity Diabetes UK said: “Cut back on saturated fats, which are found in foods that are made of animal products like butter and cheese, red and processed meats, palm oil, coconut oil, ghee, and cakes and pastries.”
Eat your five fruit and vegetables a day
Fruit and vegetables are a crucial food group for diabetes patients.
They’re rich in vitamins and fibre, which help you to feel fuller for longer.
“Aim for at least five portions of fruit and veg a day,” said Diabetes UK.
“You and your family will get the range of vitamins, minerals and fibre you need to eat well. Choose seasonal produce to cut costs.”
